The pace of increase has nearly halved since then, and it is anticipated that it will continue to decrease globally in the coming years. 

Ukraine Population Distribution 

The population of Ukraine reached 43.9 million in 2021. Ukraine had the largest population group with 66.5% (29.2 million) of the population falling into the working-age group of 15-64 years. 65 years and above, was the second-largest population group in Ukraine with 17.4% (7.6 million) of the population. Below 15 years was the third largest population group with 16.1% (7.1 million) of the total population in 2021. 

According to Global Data, the population in Ukraine contracted by 0.55% in 2020. The population is forecast to contract at an average annual rate of 0.6% over 2021– 2025 to reach 42.8 million by 2025. 

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy, Ukraine is among the top 30 nations with the oldest populations in the world. In terms of gender ratio, the female population continues to have a larger share, accounting for 53.65% of the population as of 2020. The gender ratio was 86.4 males per 100 females in 2020, according to Global Data. The median age as of 2020 was 41.2 years.
