Wardha Power Company Pvt Ltd (WPC), a subsidiary of KSK Energy Ventures Ltd (KSK), is undertaking the construction of KSK Mahanadi Power Plant in Chhattisgarh, India.The project involves the construction of a 3,600MW coal based power plant (six units of 600MW each) and will be developed in two phases of three units each.The project includes the installation of a steam generator, turbine and auxiliary units, coal handling system including dust extraction and suppression system, closed cycle cooling system with induced draft cooling towers, water and effluent treatment system, fire protection system, air conditioning and ventilation system, electrostatic precipitators, chimney, ash handling system with dry ash extraction and storage, transformers, switchgears, and switch yard. The coal requirement for the project will be about 14 million tonnes per annum, which will be obtained from Morga Coal Block in Korba District. The water requirement is 10,630m3 per hour, will be obtained from river Mahanadi.KSK has signed long term power purchase agreement (PPA) for 500MW capacity with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO), for 1,000MW capacity with UP Power Corporation Ltd (Discom), for 1,010MW capacity with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) and power purchase agreement (PPA) has also been signed with Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) for their share of power.In October 2009, Environmental clearance was received from Ministry of Environment. In September 2010, Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCO) was appointed as the contractor to undertake design, supply and provide engineering and construction services for the project and M/S MP TAR Products as supply contractor.SEPCO has awarded sub-contracts to Punj Lloyd, Petron Engineering Construction, Simplex Infrastructure, Zuberi Engineering Ltd and SEW Infrastructure.In September 2010, KSK Energy Ventures Ltd has achieved financial closure and secured US$3,600 million in equity and loans for the project.In May 2013, construction activities were completed on the first unit of the first phase of the project. In January 2014, the Ministry of coal has directed Coal India Ltd to execute the Fuel Supply Agreement to supply coal for 1,800MW capacity with KSK under the Tapering Linkage Policy. Also, KSK will execute a long-term PPA with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) for 1,000MW capacity. On August 26, 2014, construction activities were completed on the second unit of the first phase of the project.In May 2017, Piramal Enterprises Ltd and Bain Capital Credit’s have expressed to acquire the KSK Mahanadi Power Project.In January 2018, construction activities completed on the third unit marking the completion of the first phase of the project.Construction activities on the second phase are underway.

The project involves the construction of a 3,600MW coal based power plant at Nariyara village in Akaltara Tehsil of Janjgir-Champa district, Chhattisgarh, India.The US$3,600 million project includes the following:1. Construction of 1,800MW coal-based power plant in Phase I2. Construction of 1,800MW coal-based power plant in Phase II
