The story
Following a significant investment in new production capability, our client wanted to grow its share of the promotional-driven apparel printing market, targeting the Sportswear, Activewear, and Leisure segments, with ink-jet printers capable of printing on polyester. GlobalData was tasked with delivering a prospect list and briefing of operators in targeted European markets that print on polyester.

The solution
Having delivered a similar project for the client the previous year which involved establishing an extensive list of Western European screen printers, the initial focus of this project was to supplement these lists with other relevant operators in the polyester printing/decoration segment.
- Primary Research: We identified 30 operators in each target market that met the project scope’s criteria. We collected the information required by the client for each one – such as the proportion of printing on polyester, target audience, and protocols for evaluating new polyester printing equipment – in direct interviews with key decision makers.
- Secondary Research: Desk research was conducted by experienced apparel consultants of each prospect company’s website, financial reports, and relevant industry articles.

The outcome
GlobalData delivered an Excel Datapack, containing a comprehensive list of prospect operators within a predefined list of market segments in the European countries targeted. This included operator-level information such as the cost and revenue generated per printed; polyester garment; size of business; B2B vs. B2C; presence; technology usage; any available fee or revenue metrics.
