GlobalData expects the construction industry in Ecuador to grow by 3.3% in real terms in 2026, supported by investments in energy projects, coupled with increasing tourism activities, and investments in the leisure and hospitality buildings. According to the Banco Central del Ecuador (BCE), the construction industry’s value-add marginally grew by 0.8% year-on-year (YoY) in Q4 2025, preceded by a YoY growth of 2.7% in Q3 and 5.6% in Q2 2025. Rising foreign direct investment (FDI) and increasing construction and real estate property sales in the country are also expected to support the industry’s growth in 2026. In March 2026, the BCE reported that FDI in the country grew by 191% YoY in 2025, increasing from $446 million in 2024 to $1.3 billion in 2025. Moreover, according to the Internal Revenue Service (SRI), construction sales nationally grew by 20.5% from January to March 2026, while real estate sales grew by 17.8% during same period. Additionally, in early April 2026, President Daniel Noboa reported that property sales agreements value reached $6.5 billion as of April 2026, with projects largely sold out through 2028; this indicates strong demand and a solid future pipeline for the construction sector.
Over the remainder of the forecast period, the construction industry is expected to register an annual average growth rate of 4.8%, between 2027 and 2030, supported by investments in residential and transport infrastructure projects, coupled with the government’s $2.43 billion electric power expansion plan for the period of 2025-2030, under which, the government targets to add 1,471MW of new renewable energy capacity from hydro, solar, wind, and geothermal sources. The plan involves the development of 23 projects in partnership with private companies, with a major focus on solar power, accounting for 963MW and $913 million in investment.
