The Danish construction industry is expected to record a real-term growth of 3.2% in 2026, supported by a rise in construction production activities, in both buildings and civil engineering works, coupled with favorable interest rates. According to Statistics Denmark, the country’s construction production index grew by 2.5% in 2025. In terms of segmentation, it grew by 1.6% for civil engineering activities, while it grew by 2.2% for buildings, during the same period. Additionally, a rise in construction employment depicts higher construction activity. For instance, according to Statistics Denmark, the total number of people employed in the Danish construction industry grew by 2.2% YoY at the end of Q4 2025, increasing from 210,724 at the end of Q4 2024 to 215,416. Overall, the average number of people employed in the industry grew by 2.1% in 2025. However, the increasing inflation rate, which is attributed to the rising energy prices as a result of the ongoing war between the US and the oil-rich Middle Eastern countries, along with the rise in construction material prices, can pose challenges to the Danish construction industry in the short term. In April 2026, the government reported that the overall value of the construction of a Nyt Hospital project in Nordsjællandm is now projected to rise by DKK3 billion ($466 million), reaching DKK11 billion ($1.7 billion), owing to a rise in construction material and wage prices.
GlobalData expects the construction industry in Denmark to record an annual average growth rate of 4.1% from 2027 to 2030, supported by investments in defense, energy, and transport infrastructure. The government plans to invest DKK164 billion ($23.7 billion) to reduce traffic congestion, improve public transportation, and promote sustainable development as part of its Infrastructure Plan 2035, known as ‘Denmark Forward’, which received approval in June 2021. The plan outlines a budget of DKK157.6 billion ($22.8 billion), which will be used for various projects. The allocation includes DKK86 billion ($12.4 billion) for public transportation, DKK64 billion ($9.2 billion) for future road construction, DKK11 billion ($1.6 billion) for regional development, and DKK3 billion ($433.1 million) for cycling infrastructure by 2035. Additionally, the government in February 2025 announced its plan to allocate DKK120 billion ($17.5 billion) to the Danish Armed Forces by 2033, with a primary focus on the construction industry. Of the total, DKK50 billion ($7.3 billion) will be disbursed until the end of 2026, and DKK70 billion ($10.2 billion) from 2027 to 2033, for the construction of defense buildings and infrastructure.
