Mexico’s construction industry is expected to register growth of 1.5% in real terms in 2026, supported by an increase in private investments in hospitality and industrial projects, coupled with the government’s initiatives to upgrade all modes of transport infrastructure. Mexico Infrastructure Partners (MIP Real Assets), a Mexico-based energy and infrastructure investment management firm, revealed in May 2026 that it is seeking to invest more than MXN224.5 billion ($12 billion) over the next five years in one of the country’s largest private-led infrastructure programs, targeting renewable energy, highways, energy, logistics and digital infrastructure.
Over the remainder of the forecast period, the Mexican construction industry is expected to register an average annual growth rate of 3.2% between 2027 and 2030, supported by an increase in investments in transport infrastructure and renewable energy projects, coupled with the country’s efforts to address housing deficit in the country. Mexico’s federal government announced a major road infrastructure package under Plan México in June 2026. Plan México includes an ambitious road infrastructure program running from 2026 to 2030 valued at more than MXN523 billion ($28 billion), covering 44 highway and road projects totaling approximately 5,100km across the country. The initiative combines around MXN230 billion ($12.3 billion) in public investment with nearly MXN295 billion ($15.8 billion) from private-sector participation and is expected to generate about 1.4 million direct and indirect jobs. The program focuses on the construction, expansion, and modernization of strategic highways, ongoing projects, bridge and logistics corridors aimed at improving connectivity, reducing transportation costs and strengthening trade flows. As part of the broader "Infrastructure Investment Plan for Development with Wellbeing 2026–2030”, the program plans to develop 29km of bridges, while supporting economic growth, regional development and Mexico’s long-term competitiveness by 2030.
