GlobalData expects the Omani construction industry to grow by 2.5% in real terms in 2026, supported by increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country’s manufacturing and oil sector, coupled with rising investments in construction projects, particularly in non-oil and renewable sectors, amid a diversifying oil economy. In February 2026, during the Government Projects Forum 2026, Oman unveiled a massive OMR1.5 billion ($3.9 billion) development pipeline for 2026, including OMR475 million ($1.2 billion) in approved schemes and over OMR1 billion ($2.6 billion) under review. The plan features 10,000 upcoming tenders across 57 government entities to drive national infrastructure, digital integration, and regional growth. To help local communities, the government prioritizes a large portion of this money—over OMR293 million ($762 million) for local businesses and smaller companies (SMEs).
Growth will also be driven by rising investments in the tourism and energy sector. In late June 2026, the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) announced tourism and energy initiatives with an estimated investment OMR538.3 million ($1.4 billion) to accelerate its development as a major regional hub. This includes OMR186.6 million ($480 million) tourism development with Ruby Prime featuring hotels, a mall, and an academy over 200,000m2. Additionally, Al Sahil Power and an international consortium are investing OMR349.9 million ($910 million) to build an 890MW power plant by 2028 to support Duqm's rapidly growing industrial and petrochemical sectors. Over the remainder of the forecast period, the Omani construction industry is expected to register an annual average growth of 4.2% from 2027 to 2030, supported by investments in the construction of oil, electricity, transport, and housing infrastructure projects and implementation of investment plans to achieve the objectives in line with Oman Vision 2040. Growth over the forecast period will also be bolstered by the country’s target of raising the renewable energy share from 11.5% in 2025 to 39% by 2031 and 60% by 2040, under Oman's Vision 2040 energy goals
