GlobalData expects the Vietnamese construction industry to grow by 8.9% in real terms in 2026, supported by an increase in public and private investment in energy, industrial, and transport infrastructure projects, coupled with an increase in inward foreign direct investment (FDI). According to the Ministry of Finance’s National Statistics Office (NSO), total registered FDI grew by 58% year-on-year (YoY) during the first seven months of 2026, reaching VND937.3 trillion ($38.06 billion). During the first half of 2026, the national highway system exceeded 24,000km, up from 17,500km as of 2025. Moreover, according to the National Statistics Office of Vietnam’s (NSO) latest socio-economic report, released in July 2026, 10,805 construction enterprises were newly registered during the first half of 2026, marking YoY growth of 51.6%. Notably, the construction industry is expected to register a stronger performance in the second half of 2026, supported by the rollout of scheduled construction works. According to the pipeline of projects tracked by GlobalData, there were 296 construction projects with construction scheduled to commence in H2 2026, as of August 2026. This involves a total valuation of VND4.6 quadrillion ($185.8 billion).
The Vietnamese construction industry is expected to register an annual average growth rate of 6.6% between 2027 and 2030, supported by private and public sector investment in road, rail, airport, and housing projects. Under Vietnam’s National Master Plan 2021-2030 (released in mid-July 2026), with a vision to 2050, the country aims to expand the number of expressway routes to 46 routes totaling 10,106km, compared with the earlier target of 41 routes totaling 8,993km (as of April 2026). Of the total, the government aims to build 1,721km between 2026 and 2030, with an investment of VND802.9 trillion ($30.5 billion). By 2030, the government aims to have 6,539km of expressways completed, compared to 3,345km in operation as of April 2026. Growth in the renewable energy sector will be supported by the implementation of Vietnam’s revised Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) plan, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the total power supply from 25.3% in 2020 to 47% of the energy mix by 2030.
