Our client wanted an objective assessment of the current market size, channel and customer size trends and forecasts for the global dairy drinks and soft drinks packaging materials markets, to feed into the company’s strategic and operational planning processes.

The solution

  • To answer the brief, we created a series of volume and value data sets delivered to the client on the GlobalData Packaging Intelligence Centre (IC) via a unique client login. Once logged in, the client could interrogate the data to answer their bespoke questions.
  • The data provided was by category, packaging feature and channel from over 100 countries located in four key regions of scope which included the Americas and MEA.
  • The data provided global coverage for the Liquid Dairy, Dairy Alternatives and Soft Drinks categories split by: key materials – Foil/HDPE; pack type – bottle/carton/can/PET; detailed and actionable packaging size bands; channel including off-premise home delivery and modern retail or on-premise: QSR/vending; customer.

The outcome

The following deliverables were created for the client:
  • Annual update: of market, channel and customer data.
  • Quarterly update: of market and channel data to evaluate changes in market data throughout the year and make an accurate assessment of future packaging demand.
  • Insight reports: a full annual and quarterly insight report was produced to provide a granular market overview, identifying key market developments, and consumer, thematic and channel themes and trends. These included “greedflation”, “health-hushing”, the dominance of private labels, and product innovation. Key takeouts were summarized and various development recommendations made.
