Marti Technologies has recently signed a multi-year partnership with Silicon Valley-based Tensor to deploy the latter’s autonomous vehicles (AVs) on its ride-hailing platform across Turkish cities. Marti will purchase Tensor AVs for use across its network, extending a mobility portfolio that already spans ride-hailing in 20 Turkish cities, delivery, and a large micro-mobility rental fleet. The collaboration seems to signal an intent to move beyond conventional marketplace matching and into higher-control fleet operations—an increasingly common strategic direction in autonomous mobility, says GlobalData, a leading intelligence and productivity platform.
Madhuchhanda Palit, Senior Automotive Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The partnership reflects a pragmatic route to autonomy: pairing a platform with local operational scale with a supplier aiming to commercialize Level 4 technology beyond pilots. Industry sources have consistently shown that AV deployments tend to progress fastest where a local operator can manage on-the-ground complexity—vehicle staging, cleaning, charging, customer support, incident response, and liaison with municipalities—rather than relying solely on technology performance.”
Marti’s existing IoT-backed shared-vehicle operations and dense urban footprint may lower the barriers to orchestrating fleet logistics, particularly if Tensor’s vehicles are introduced in constrained geographies and time windows typical of early Operational Design Domains (ODDs).
Palit adds: “Tensor’s positioning—Level 4 designed for both personal ownership and professional fleet use—diverges from many AV strategies that prioritize fleet-only utilization. The company highlights vertical integration in compute and sensors, proprietary sensor-cleaning for uptime, and over-the-air updates down to the firmware level. These choices align with widely understood AV commercialization requirements: reducing downtime, enabling rapid iteration, and maintaining a controlled safety architecture. “
Tensor also claims a high-redundancy design powered by a proprietary supercomputer built around eight Nvidia Thor-X GPUs, suggesting an emphasis on onboard compute headroom. However, the industry’s recent history indicates that robust hardware does not automatically translate into scalable, economically viable operations; service reliability, cost-per-mile, regulatory acceptance, and edge-case performance will likely define rollout cadence.
Palit concludes: “Marti’s agreement indicates a measured but meaningful step toward autonomous ride-hailing in Türkiye. The deal pairs Marti’s established multi-modal operations with Tensor’s ambition to industrialize Level 4 vehicles for fleet networks.
