Allen & Overy and White & Case were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the Middle East & African region during the first half (H1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks legal advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Allen & Overy achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $9.6 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, White & Case led in terms of volume by advising on a total of five deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “White & Case, despite registering a drop in the number of deals advised in H1 2024 compared to H1 2023, managed to top the chart by volume. Meanwhile, Allen & Overy, which led by value, registered 147% jump in the total value of deals advised during H1 2024 compared to H1 2023. Resultantly, its ranking by value improved from the third position in H1 2023 to the top spot in H1 2024.”

Bernitsas Law, Latham & Watkins and Simmons & Simmons jointly occupied the second position in terms of value, with each of them advising on $3.4 billion worth of deals, followed by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati with $700 million.

Meanwhile, Naschitz Brandes Amir occupied the second position in terms of volume with four deals, followed by Allen & Overy with three deals, King & Spalding with three deals and Webber Wentzel with three deals.
