Citi and UBS were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the Asia-Pacific region during the first quarter (Q1) of 2025 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that Citi achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $6.7 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, UBS led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 10 deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “UBS was the top adviser by both deal volume and value in Q1 2024 and managed to retain its leadership position in terms of volume in Q1 2025 but lost the top position in terms of value to Citi.
“There was a massive jump in the total value of deals advised by Citi during Q1 2025 compared to Q1 2024. Resultantly, it went ahead from occupying the 14th position by value in Q1 2024 to the top position in Q1 2025. Apart from leading by value in Q1 2025, Citi occupied the second position by volume and similarly, UBS, apart from leading by volume, also occupied the second position by value.”

UBS occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $4.6 billion worth of deals, followed by Evercore with $4.1 billion, Gresham Advisory Partners with $3.7 billion and Deloitte with $2.3 billion.
Meanwhile, Citi occupied the second position in terms of volume with six deals, followed by Daiwa Securities Group with six deals, Deloitte with five deals and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial with five deals.
