Research using GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database has revealed that Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier Avocats was the top merger and acquisition (M&A) legal adviser in Europe for H1 2022 by deal value, while CMS occupied the top position by volume of deals. The leading data and analytics company highlights that Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier Avocats advised on $50 billion worth of deals, while CMS advised on a total of 168 deals.

According to GlobalData’s report, ‘Global and Europe M&A Report Legal Adviser League Tables H1 2022’, a total of 5,816 M&A deals worth $350.2 billion were announced in the region during H1 2022.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier Avocats, which advised on just nine deals, managed to occupy the top position by value due to its involvement in big-ticket deals. The average size of deals advised by Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier Avocats stood at $5.6 billion.

“While CMS was the only adviser with triple-digit deal volume, it lagged behind its peers in terms of value—at just $67 million—and could not feature in the top 10 list by value.”

Analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Legance – Avvocati Associati occupied the second position by value by advising on $41.6 billion worth of deals; followed by  Gatti Pavesi Bianchi Ludovici, with $41.2 billion; Clifford Chance, with $36.5 billion; and Allen & Overy, with $36.2 billion.

Meanwhile, Allen & Overy occupied the second position in terms of volume, with 86 deals; followed by Baker McKenzie, with 81 deals; Latham & Watkins, with 67 deals; and Clifford Chance, with 56 deals.
