A total of 4,159 venture capital (VC) deals with disclosed funding rounds were announced in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region during 2024. This represents a decline of 13% compared to the 4,782 VC deals announced during the previous year, with a fall in the volume of early-stage* as well as growth, expansion and late-stage** funding rounds, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “During the year, both early-stage funding rounds* and growth, expansion and late-stage funding rounds** had their own shares of fall in volume, contributing to the overall decline.”
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that the total number of early-stage funding rounds announced in the APAC region declined by 13.2% in 2024 compared to 2023 whereas the volume of growth, expansion and late-stage funding rounds was down by 12.6%.

During 2024, the APAC region saw the announcement of a total of 3,126 early-stage funding rounds that included 1,165 Seed rounds and 1,961 Series A funding round deals compared to the previous year’s announcement of 3,600 early-stage funding rounds comprising 1,388 Seed rounds and 2,212 Series A funding rounds.
Meanwhile, the total volume of growth, expansion and late-stage funding rounds declined from 1,182 in 2023 to 1,033 in 2024.
Early-stage funding rounds continued to dominate the APAC VC funding landscape and accounted for a 75.2% share of the total number of VC deals with disclosed funding rounds announced in the region during 2024.
Meanwhile, growth, expansion and late-stage funding rounds collectively accounted for a 24.8% share of the total number of VC deals with disclosed funding rounds announced in the region during 2024.
