Evercore and Houlihan Lokey were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) sector during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Evercore achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $61.9 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Houlihan Lokey led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 19 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Evercore registered a massive jump in the total value of deals advised by it during Q1 2024 compared to Q1 2023. Resultantly, its ranking by value also jumped from seventh position in Q1 2023 to the top position in Q1 2024. Evercore advised on six billion-dollar deals* during Q1 2024 that also included two mega deals valued more than $10 billion. Involvement in these big-ticket deals helped Evercore to register a jump in total deal value and ranking by this metric.

“Meanwhile, Houlihan Lokey was the top adviser by volume in Q1 2023 and managed to retain its leadership position by this metric in Q1 2024 as well.”

Qatalyst Partners occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $50.8 billion worth of deals, followed by JP Morgan with $38.3 billion, Goldman Sachs with $23.5 billion, and Deutsche Bank with $18.4 billion.

Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co occupied the second position in terms of volume with 16 deals, followed by Evercore with 11 deals, JP Morgan with 11 deals, and Goldman Sachs with 11 deals.
