Goldman Sachs and UBS were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the South & Central American region in 2023 by value and volume, respectively according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Goldman Sachs achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $14.4 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, UBS led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 10 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “While Goldman Sachs was the only adviser to surpass the $10 billion in total deal value during 2023, UBS was the only adviser to hit double-digit volume. UBS was the top adviser by volume in 2022 as well. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs registered a massive jump in total value of deals advised and went ahead from occupying the 22nd position by value in 2022 to top the chart by this metric in 2023.”

Bank of America occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $9.9 billion worth of deals, followed by Morgan Stanley with $5.8 billion while Bank of Nova Scotia and BMO Capital Markets jointly occupied the fourth position with each of them advising on $5.7 billion worth of deals.

Meanwhile, Clairfield International occupied the second position in terms of volume with seven deals, followed by 44 Capital Financas Corporativas with five deals, Houlihan Lokey with four deals and Rothschild & Co with four deals.
