India’s venture capital (VC) funding landscape has demonstrated resilience in 2025, showcasing an uptick in both deal volume and deal value. The total number of VC deals announced in the country increased by around 14% during January-July 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year, while the corresponding deal value registered a year-on-year (YoY) growth of around 13%, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The performance of the Indian market contrasts with trends observed in other major economies. The activity growth underscores the country’s evolving startup ecosystem, which is characterized by innovation, technological advancement, and a burgeoning entrepreneurial spirit.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that while China and the UK have seen declines in both VC deal volume and value during January-July 2025 compared to January-July 2024, the US has also faced slight decline in deal volume.

Bose adds: “The growth in India’s VC funding activity reflects a growing confidence among investors in the country’s potential. Sectors such as technology and healthcare are particularly thriving, driven by a combination of favorable demographics, increasing Internet penetration, and a shift towards digital solutions.”

Some of the notable VC funding deals announced in India during January-July 2025 include fundraising of upto $300 million by Micro Life, around $300 fundraising by Krutrim SI Design, $275 million capital raising by GreenLine Mobility, $218 million secured by PB Healthcare Services, $200 million raised by SmartShift Logistics Solutions, and $200 million raised by Nextbillion Technology, among others.

The positive trajectory positions India as a key player in the global VC ecosystem, capturing more than 8% of the total number of VC deals announced worldwide during January-July 2025. Meanwhile, its share in terms of total funding value stood at around 4% during the same period.
