Jefferies and JP Morgan were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers by value while PwC was the top adviser by volume in the retail sector during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that Jefferies and JP Morgan jointly occupied the top position in terms of value, with each of them advising on a deal worth $1 billion. Meanwhile, PwC led in terms of volume by advising on a total of three deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Jefferies and JP Morgan, despite advising on only one deal, were the only advisers to hit the $1 billion mark during Q1 2024. Meanwhile, PwC, which led by volume during the quarter, also occupied the 10th position by value.”

In rankings by value, Jefferies and JP Morgan were followed by Rothschild & Co with $931.8 million, Piper Sandler with $365 million and Deutsche Bank with $365 million.
Meanwhile, KPMG occupied the second position in terms of volume with three deals, followed by Rothschild & Co with two deals, Piper Sandler with two deals and Solomon Partners with two deals.
