JP Morgan and Houlihan Lokey were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in North America during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that JP Morgan achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $255.6 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Houlihan Lokey led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 130 deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Houlihan Lokey was the top adviser by volume during Q1-Q3 2023 and managed to retain the top position by this metric during Q1-Q3 2024 as well. It is noteworthy that Houlihan Lokey was the only adviser to hit the triple-digit deal volume during Q1-Q3 2024.
“Meanwhile, JP Morgan registered a significant rise in the total value of deals advised and resultantly its ranking by value jumped from fourth position during Q1-Q3 2023 to the top position during Q1-Q3 2024. JP Morgan advised on 52 deals, each valued ≥ $1 billion, that also included seven mega deals valued ≥ $10 billion. This helped JP Morgan register a massive jump in terms of value. Apart from leading by value, it also held the second position by volume during Q1-Q3 2024.”

Goldman Sachs occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $236.9 billion worth of deals, followed by Morgan Stanley with $192.5 billion, Citi with $167.5 billion and Evercore with $164.4 billion.
Meanwhile, JP Morgan occupied the second position in terms of volume with 92 deals, followed by Goldman Sachs with 89 deals, Jefferies with 83 deals and Stifel/KBW with 81 deals.
