JP Morgan and Rothschild & Co were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the power sector during the first half (H1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that JP Morgan achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $10.4 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 12 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “JP Morgan was among the only two advisers to surpass $10 billion in total deal value during H1 2024. It faced tough competition from Goldman Sachs for the top position by value. While JP Morgan managed to lead the table, Goldman Sachs missed the top position by a whisker.

“Rothschild & Co and Lazard were the only two advisers with double-digit deal volume during H1 2024. Apart from leading by volume, Rothschild & Co also occupied the third position by value during the review period.”

Goldman Sachs occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $10 billion worth of deals, followed by Rothschild & Co with $8.9 billion, Barclays with $7 billion and Citi with $6.5 billion.

Meanwhile, Lazard occupied the second position in terms of volume with 11 deals, followed by Deloitte with eight deals  whereas PwC and KPMG jointly occupied the fourth position with six deals each.
