JP Morgan and Lazard were the top M&A financial advisers by value and volume in the automotive sector for Q1 2022, finds GlobalData

JP Morgan and Lazard were the top M&A financial advisers by both value and volume in the automotive sector in Q1 2022, respectively, according to the latest Financial Advisers League Table by GlobalData. The leading data and analytics company’s Financial Deals Database reveals that JP Morgan achieved the top ranking by value by advising on $10.8 billion worth of M&A deals. Meanwhile, Lazard led by volume, having advised on a total of three deals.

According to GlobalData’s report, ‘Global and Automotive M&A Report Financial Adviser League Tables Q1 2022’, a total of 241 M&A deals worth $27.7 billion were announced in the sector during Q1 2022.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “JP Morgan is the only adviser that managed to surpass the $10 billion mark in total deal value in Q1 2022. Although the firm only advised on two deals, both of them were billion-dollar deals*. The firm also occupied the third position by volume.

“Similarly, Lazard, apart from leading by volume, also occupied the third position by value.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals other high rankers by value included Citi, with deals worth $8.3 billion; Lazard, with $7.7 billion; Rothschild & Co, with $7.2 billion; and Bank of America, with $7.1 billion. By volume, Bank of America occupied the second position, with three deals; followed by JP Morgan, with two deals; Citi, with two deals; and Rothschild & Co with two deals.
