JP Morgan and Rothschild & Co top M&A financial advisers by value and volume in Q1 2024, finds GlobalData

JP Morgan and Rothschild & Co have emerged as the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers by value and volume globally for Q1 2024 in the latest Financial Advisers League Table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company has revealed that JP Morgan achieved its leading position in the deal value rankings by advising on $155.5 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 52 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “A majority of the top 20 advisers by value registered improvement in the total value of deals advised by them during Q1 2024 compared to Q1 2023. In fact, JP Morgan was also part of that league and experienced a three-fold jump in the total value of deals advised by it. Resultantly, its ranking by value also took a leap from fifth position in Q1 2023 to the top position in Q1 2024.

“JP Morgan advised on 26 billion-dollar deals* during Q1 2024 that also included five mega deals valued more than $10 billion. Involvement in these big-ticket deals helped JP Morgan to register growth in terms of value and occupy the top position by this metric.

“Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co’s ranking by volume improved, despite experiencing a decline in deals volume. It went ahead from occupying the second position by volume in Q1 2023 to top the chart by this metric in Q1 2024.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Houlihan Lokey occupied the second position in terms of volume by advising on 51 deals followed by JP Morgan with 39 deals, Goldman Sachs with 39 deals, and UBS with 35 deals.

Meanwhile, Evercore occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $122 billion worth of deals followed by Goldman Sachs with $103.4 billion, Morgan Stanley with $101.2 billion, and Citi with $90.1 billion.
