Lazard and Deloitte were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the construction sector in Q1 2023 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.
Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company reveals that Lazard achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $1.7 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Deloitte led by volume, by advising on a total of five deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Lazard was among the only two advisers that managed to advise on more than $1 billion worth of deals during Q1 2023. Although it witnessed a decline in deal value, Lazard saw its ranking by value improving from sixth position in Q1 2022 to the top position in Q1 2023. Similarly, Deloitte saw a significant jump in its ranking by volume, from occupying the 23rd position in Q1 2022 to topping the chart by this metric in Q1 2023.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Rothschild & Co occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $1.3 billion worth of deals, followed by Wells Fargo with $829 million, JP Morgan with $829 million, and Goldman Sachs with $626 million.
Meanwhile, Clearwater International occupied the second position in terms of volume with four deals, followed by William Blair, PwC and Generation Growth Capital jointly occupying the third position by advising on four deals each.
