Lazard and Rothschild & Co were the top M&A financial advisers by value and volume in the power sector for Q1-Q3 2022, finds GlobalData

Lazard and Rothschild & Co were the top M&A financial advisers in the power sector for Q1-Q3 2022 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest Financial Advisers League Table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company has revealed that Lazard achieved its leading position by value by advising on $17.7 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co led by volume by advising on a total of 26 deals.

According to GlobalData’s report, ‘Global and Power M&A Report Financial Adviser League Tables Q1-Q3 2022’, a total of 2,156 M&A deals worth $257 billion were announced in the sector during Q1-Q3 2022.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Rothschild & Co was the only firm to advise on more than 20 deals. Apart from leading by volume, it also managed to advise on some of the big-ticket deals, which helped it to secure the second position by value as well. The company advised on eight deals valued more than $100 million.

“Meanwhile, Lazard advised on 10 deals valued more than $100 million. Interestingly, Lazard, apart from leading by value, also occupied the second position by volume.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Goldman Sachs occupied the third position by value, by advising on with $14.1 billion worth of deals; followed by JP Morgan, with $13.3 billion; and Evercore, with $9.6 billion.

Meanwhile, JP Morgan occupied the third position in terms of volume with 16 deals; followed by Ernst & Young, with 14 deals; and KPMG, with 14 deals.
