Linklaters and White & Case were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the Middle East & Africa region for Q1-Q3 2022 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest Legal Advisers League Table by GlobalData, which ranks legal advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company reveals that Linklaters achieved its leading position by value by advising on $14.2 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, White & Case topped the list by volume by advising on a total of 18 deals.

According to GlobalData’s report, ‘Global and Middle East and Africa M&A Report Legal Adviser League Tables Q1-Q3 2022’, a total of 906 M&A deals worth $85.7 billion were announced in the region during Q1-Q3 2022.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “White & Case was just a little short of hitting the volume mark of 20 deals. Apart from leading by volume, it also managed to advise on three billion-dollar deals*, which helped it occupy the fourth position by value, as well.

“Meanwhile, Linklaters advised on two billion-dollar deals but still managed to top by value as both these deals were valued more than $5 billion.”

GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database also found that Webber Wentzel occupied the second position by value, by advising on $14.2 billion worth of deals, followed by Latham & Watkins, with $12.6 billion, White & Case, with $7.8 billion, and Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, with $6.9 billion.

Meanwhile, Erdinast, Ben Nathan, Toledano occupied the second position in terms of volume with 13 deals, followed by Latham & Watkins, with 12 deals, Allen & Overy, with 10 deals, and Baker McKenzie, with nine deals.
