Mitsubishi UFJ Financial and Morgan Stanley were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the automotive sector during the first half (H1) of 2026 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.
Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading intelligence and productivity platform has revealed that Mitsubishi UFJ Financial achieved the top position in terms of value by advising on $29.7 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley led in terms of volume by advising on a total of four deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Mitsubishi UFJ Financial was the clear winner by value in H1 2026, outpacing its peers by a significant margin. Its involvement in the $29.3 billion deal for Toyota Asset Preparatory’s acquisition of the remaining 76.5% stake in Toyota Industries played a pivotal role in keeping it well ahead of other advisers.
“Meanwhile, there was an improvement in the number of deals advised by Morgan Stanley in H1 2026 compared to H1 2025, and its ranking by volume also improved from 23rd position to the top position.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Lazard occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on deals worth $2.1 billion, followed by Credit Agricole, Evercore, UBS and UniCredit, which jointly held the third position, with each advising on a deal worth $2.1 billion.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial occupied the second position in terms of volume with two deals, followed by Lazard with two deals, HSBC with two deals, and Arpwood Capital Ltd with two deals.
