Moelis & Company and Rothschild & Co were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the consumer sector during the first quarter (Q1) of 2023 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Moelis & Company achieved the top position in terms of value by advising on $4.1 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co led in terms of volume by advising on a total of seven deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Rothschild & Co, occupied the top position by volume in Q1 2022 and managed to retain its leadership position by this metric in Q1 2023 as well. Interestingly, Rothschild & Co also did not see any change in deals volume in Q1 2023 over Q1 2022. Moreover, it also occupied the 10th position by value apart from leading by volume. Similarly, Moelis & Company, which led by value, occupied the fourth position by volume.”

China International Capital Corp occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $3.1 billion worth of deals, followed by Perella Weinberg Partners with $2.8 billion, Morgan Stanley with $2.8 billion and Goldman Sachs with $2.5 billion.

Meanwhile, PwC occupied the second position in terms of volume with six deals, followed by Houlihan Lokey with four deals, Moelis & Company with three deals and Perella Weinberg Partners with three deals.
