One97 Communications Ltd (Paytm) active jobs increased from 161 in October 2021 to over 280 in January 2021*. Going by its recent listings, Paytm seems to expand in Africa and Latin America (LatAm) markets through telecom services while also working towards consolidating its presence in North America. The company is  exploring international sales avenues while preparing for new business development initiatives, finds GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

Ajay Kumar Thalluri, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, says: “Active jobs open for recruitment increased since Paytm went public in November 2021. Though it did not have an IPO debut of sorts, the company seems to explore new markets to mitigate rocky tides. Some of Paytm’s January 2022 listings suggest requirement to travel extensively in Africa and LatAm locations to sell value added services (VAS) and core telco products. The company reportedly has registered offices in Kenya and Nigeria.”

Paytm is looking to cross and up selling One97 communication product portfolio and push revenues in LatAm markets, according to ‘International sales (LatAm) – Senior Manager’ role. Another role for ‘International sales (Africa/LatAm) – Associate’ requires experience of handling Africa operation or business and develop a go-to market plan for product launch.

Rise in listings referring to new markets come at a time when the company will be shutting down Paytm Canada App permanently, as noted in a blog post. However, Paytm Labs Inc., its Canada subsidiary, seem to be focusing on Paytm AI (PAI) Risk, a full end-to-end fraud management system. After completing a soft launch of Paytm AI (PAI) Risk, the company is improving the architectural integrity of the fraud prevention and detection platform, VP of Engineering – PAI (Risk) listed in January 2022 suggests.

Additionally, the company is strengthening compliance and regulatory requirements in the US. Paytm listed a role for ‘Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer’ for its Salt Lake City office to implement an annual compliance plan to detect violations of laws and to promote ethical practices, besides representing Paytm North America in compliance industry and trade association groups. It also looks to manage the compliance aspects of new products and services, program agreements, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
