Sullivan & Cromwell and Veirano Advogados were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in South & Central America during the first three quarters (Q1-Q3) of 2026 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading intelligence and productivity platform.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Sullivan & Cromwell achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $8 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Veirano Advogados led in terms of volume by advising on a total of eight deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Veirano Advogados saw its ranking by volume improve from the second position during Q1-Q3 2025 to the top position during Q1-Q3 2026 despite a year-on-year (YoY) drop in deal volume.
“Meanwhile, Sullivan & Cromwell, which led the chart by value, was not among the top 10 during Q1-Q3 2025. Of the three deals it advised on during Q1-Q3 2026, two were billion-dollar deals* and the involvement in these big-ticket deals helped it secure the top spot by value.”

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $7.3 billion worth of deals, followed by Conyers Dill & Pearman with $6.4 billion, whereas Homburger and Lenz & Staehelin jointly occupied the fourth position each of them advising on a deal worth $6.2 billion.
Meanwhile, Mayer Brown occupied the second position in terms of volume with seven deals, followed by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett with seven deals, Posse Herrera & Ruiz Abogados with seven deals and Baker McKenzie with six deals.
