Tesla leads Twitter conversations among top 10 automotive firms in H1 2023, reveals GlobalData Social Media Analytics

Tesla Inc. has emerged as the top company with 22% share of voice among the top 10 most mentioned automotive companies on Twitter during the first half (H1) of 2023, reveals the Social Media Analytics Platform of GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

The remaining nine most mentioned automotive companies during H1 2023 were Ford Motor with 13% share of voice, General Motors (13%), KIA Motors Corp (11%), Mercedes-Benz Group AG (9%), Ferrari NV (8%), Honda Motor Co. Ltd (7%), Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (6%), Toyota Motor Corp (6%), and Suzuki Motor Corp (5%).

Tesla dominated the conversations around automotive companies during H1 2023 and saw a surge in influencer discussions during April 2023. The discussions were focused on Tesla’s Q1 2023 results as the earnings have decreased primarily due to an outcome of price cuts on its EV models.

Shreyasee Majumder, Social Media Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Among the top 10 companies, KIA experienced a 10% rise in conversations in H1 2023 as compared with H2 2022. The highest spike in discussions related to KIA was witnessed in the beginning of June, majorly led by the significant unit of car sales. The launch of EV6 in India was another conversation driver in the month of June.”

Ford Motor captured 13% share among the top 10 automotive companies, making it the second most cited automotive company. The conversations among influencers gained its attention when the value wars in the sprouting electric vehicle industry intensified after Ford Motor dropped the cost of its electric Mustang Mach-E, mirroring Tesla Inc.’s parallel reductions. The influencer discussions also drew spotlight onto the fact that Formula One’s burgeoning allure in the US caught the fascination of yet another US company, with Ford deciding to rejoin the championship as Red Bull Racing’s engine supplier.
