UBS and Rothschild & Co were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the European region during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks financial advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.

Based on its Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company reveals that UBS achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $21.4 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Rothschild & Co led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 37 deals.

Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Rothschild & Co was the top adviser by volume in Q1 2023 and was also able to retain its leadership position by this metric in Q1 2024 as well, despite experiencing a decline in the total number of deals advised by it.

“Meanwhile, UBS registered a significant jump in the total value of deals advised by it in Q1 2024 compared to Q1 2023 due to its involvement in big-ticket deals. Resultantly, its ranking by value also improved significantly from the sixth position in Q1 2023 to the top position in Q1 2024. UBS advised on six billion-dollar deals* during Q1 2024.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database reveals that Evercore occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $21.3 billion worth of deals, followed by Morgan Stanley with $21.1 billion, JP Morgan with $13.5 billion, and Goldman Sachs with $12.9 billion.

Meanwhile, Ernst & Young occupied the second position in terms of volume with 25 deals, followed by KPMG with 22 deals, Lazard with 21 deals, and PwC with 21 deals.
