The US venture capital (VC) market demonstrated remarkable resilience in 2024, achieving a year-on-year (YoY) 34.6% surge in total funding value to $148.8 billion, despite a double-digit decline in deal volume. This impressive growth, driven by high-value investments, underscores robust investor confidence and reaffirms the US’s position as a global leader in the innovation-driven venture ecosystem, reveals GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database revealed that a total of 4,801 VC deals were announced during 2024, a decline of 28% compared to the announcement of 6,666 VC deals of worth $110.6 billion during 2023.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The remarkable growth in total funding value highlights the robust investor confidence in the US startup ecosystem. This growth, driven by several high-value deals, reinforces the US’s leadership in the global VC landscape and underscores the continued appeal of its innovation-driven market.”

The number of VC deals valued more than or equal to $100 million announced in the US increased from 202 in 2023 to 291 in 2024. Some of the notable VC funding deals announced in the US during 2024 include: $10 billion fundraising by Databricks, $6.6 billion worth funding raised by OpenAI, $6 billion worth funding raised by X.AI, $5.6 billion worth funding raised by Waymo, $1.5 billion worth funding raised by Anduril Industries and $1.1 billion worth funding raised by CoreWeave, among others.
Bose concludes: “The US continues to dominate the global VC funding landscape. The dominance is particularly evident in terms of value. In 2024, the country secured over half of the total global investments, accounting for 29.1% of the total deal volume worldwide while commanding a significantly higher 54.8% share of the total funding value.”
