White & Case and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal advisers in the South & Central American region during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.
An analysis of GobalData’s Deals Database revealed that White & Case achieved the leading position in terms of value by advising on $1.3 billion worth of deals. Meanwhile, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett led in terms of volume by advising on a total of four deals.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “White & Case was the clear winner by value as it was the only adviser to surpass $1 billion in total deal value during Q1 2024. Apart from leading by value, it also occupied the third position by volume during the period. Similarly, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, which led by volume, also occupied the second position by value during the quarter.”

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $485 million worth of deals, followed by Linklaters with $221 million, Carey Abogados with $160 million and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom with $160 million.
Meanwhile, Baker McKenzie occupied the second position in terms of volume with three deals, followed by White & Case with two deals, Linklaters with two deals and Carey Abogados with two deals.
