White & Case was the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) legal adviser in the construction sector in Q1 2023 by both value and volume, according to the latest legal advisers league table by GlobalData, which ranks legal advisers by the value and volume of M&A deals on which they advised.
Based on its Financial Deals Database, the leading data and analytics company has revealed that White & Case achieved this leading position by advising on seven deals worth $1.7 billion.
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “White & Case was the clear winner by value, as it was the only adviser that managed to advise on more than $1 billion worth of deals announced in the construction sector during Q1 2023. However, it faced close competition from CMS for the top position by volume.”

An analysis of GlobalData’s Financial Deals Database reveals that Alston & Bird occupied the second position by value, by advising on $912 million worth of deals, followed by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett with $872 million, while Sidley Austin, Bryan Cave and Cravath Swaine & Moore jointly occupied the fourth position by this metric, with each advising on deals worth $829 million.
Meanwhile, CMS occupied the second position in terms of volume with six deals, followed by Kirkland & Ellis with five deals, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett with four deals, and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius with three deals.
