OnePlus 10T smartphone will delight gamers, but at only $50 more the Pro model could cannibalize 10T’s sales, says GlobalData

Following the announcement of the OnePlus 10T smartphone launch;

Ardit Ballhysa, Technology Analyst at GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, offers his view:

“The new OnePlus 10T is a strong mid-tier smartphone in terms of specifications and hardware. The device will be a hit due to having certain premium features at a mid-tier price point, and will have strong appeal among gamers, offering 150W fast charging (125W in the US), a large battery size, and a revamped cooling system.

“However, OnePlus may have made a strategic mistake in pricing the higher end OnePlus 10T model at $749, which is only $50 less than the OnePlus 10 Pro, which retails for $799. For a difference of $50, most people may opt for the OnePlus 10 Pro owing to the extra features and capabilities such as wireless charging and Hasselblad camera system. This could cannibalize sales of the higher spec OnePlus 10T, potentially creating excess inventory at a time of supply chain woes and inflationary pressures.

“The OnePlus 10T has a 6.7” inch AMOLED display with HDR10+ and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The device also features the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, the same chipset found in the highest-end Android smartphones.”
