All the vital news, analysis, and commentary curated by our industry experts.
German HNWIs include all individuals permanently living in Germany, as well as German-born individuals who have chosen to live elsewhere but still operate businesses in the country. The demographic details in this study are based on a sample of over 4,741 German HNWIs.
For the purposes of this report, wealth is defined as the net value of assets, including both financial holdings and tangible assets. This comprises alternative assets, real estate (excluding primary residence), cash and deposits, fixed income, equities and business interests.
Core HNWIs – also called core millionaires – consist of two wealth bands: mid-tier millionaires and lower-tier millionaires. As their name implies, core millionaires are the base of the wealth pyramid, with 99.1% of German HNWIs identified as such. Core HNWIs collectively accounted for 68.5% of German HNWI wealth in 2015. How does this compare with the global average?
Analysis has found that core HNWIs are typically younger than their wealthier peers, and are more likely to have earned their wealth through a salaried position. In what ways do Core HNWIs generally hold large proportions of their wealth? What opportunity do Core HNWIS present to the wealth management sector through their banking preferences?
