Amazon retains its lead on the thematic screen of GlobalData’s music, film, and TV sector scorecard. Since the last quarter, Tencent has fallen from second position to fifth as Netflix, Disney, and Apple climbed to second, third, and fourth places, respectively.

In Q1 2024, Disney merged its Star India service with Reliance-owned Viacom18 in a deal worth $8.5 billion. It will also be a prime beneficiary in India’s internet advertising market. In November 2023, Disney took full control of Hulu by acquiring Comcast's 33% stake for $8.6 billion, strengthening its position in the US.
