Tesla has been involved in several strategic technology partnerships and collaborations, technology developments and roll outs over the past few years. For instance, Tesla partnered with Re|Source consortium, a consortium of cobalt producers, to develop a blockchain platform for tracing the supply chain of cobalt, right from the mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo to its battery production facilities. The pilot of the platform was scheduled to run until the end of 2021 and the full rollout was scheduled in 2022. The Re|Source consortium comprises Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), China Molybdenum Co., Ltd (CMOC), and Glencore plc. Kryha was the technology partner. The solution helps Tesla to source cobalt from sustainable sources.
