A total of 121 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Automotive of the Asia-Pacific region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $10,602.8 million. In the LTM period, February 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $2,748.8 million, resulting in an average deal value of $196.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 20 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $75.9 million during that month.
Of the 121 deals, the deal secured between Luxshare Precision Industry Co Ltd and Chery Automobile Co Ltd; Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd; Chery New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Automotive sector, which was valued at $1,580.2 million and was completed on February 11, 2022. The second-largest deal was between KG Group and SsangYong Motor Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between China MeiDong Auto Holdings Ltd and StarChase Motorsports Limited. The KG Group-SsangYong Motor Co Ltd deal and the China MeiDong Auto Holdings Ltd-StarChase Motorsports Limited deal were valued at $702.0 million and $580.6 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between GUD Holdings Ltd-AutoPacific Group Holdings Ltd valued at $531.5 million, whereas the deal between Solera Holdings Inc-Infomedia Ltd valued at $443.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $3,837.3 million and accounted for nearly 36.19% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 20.04% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 7.46% of the total deal size on a global scale.
