• Greater number of units were produced in Britain in July 2022 than in July 2021

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said on August 25, 2022, that automobile production in Britain increased for the third consecutive month in July 2022 from a dismal performance in 2021 when car makers were affected by severe chip shortages and absences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A greater number of automobile units were produced in Britain in July 2022 than in July 2022, but production is 46.4% below pre-pandemic levels as the sector battles supply chain problems, structural changes, and sluggish exports.

June 2021 recorded the lowest number of new automobile registrations in 26 years in Britain because of China’s COVID-19 regulations and constraints affecting the supply of components.
