Ford's Quarterly Revenues (Q1 2017 – Q2 2022, $ Billion)

  • Ford generated $34.5 billion in revenues in Q1 2022
  • In Q4 2021, Ford had revenue of $37.7 billion
  • Ford generates the majority of its revenues from the automotive segment

Ford, the Michigan-based automotive company, had generated a revenue of $34.5 billion, in Q1 2022, a decrease of nearly 8.5% as compared to $37.7 billion in revenues in Q4 2021. Ford disaggregates its revenues into three segments, namely: Automotive, Mobility, and Ford Credit. The Automotive segment generated $32.1 billion in revenue (nearly 93% of the total revenues) in Q1 2022.

Ford’s fresh lineup of vehicles in the first quarter of 2022 had good customer demand, but the sales of new vehicles were tempered by persistent supply chain issues that reduced the speed with which Ford could fulfill vehicle demands. Along with the sales of new vehicles, Ford also auctions used vehicles in the US through Ford Credit, a financial services arm of the Ford Motor Company. The demand for used vehicles has continued to grow over the years resulting in 32% higher auction values in Q1 2022 as compared to a year ago.

Automotive Segment: this segment primarily includes the sale of Ford and Lincoln vehicles, service parts, and accessories worldwide, together with the associated costs to develop, manufacture, distribute, and service the vehicles, parts, and accessories. This segment includes revenues and costs related to electrification vehicle programs and enterprise connectivity. The segment includes the following regional business units: North America, South America, Europe, China (including Taiwan), and the International Markets Group.

Mobility Segment: this segment primarily includes development costs for Ford’s autonomous vehicles and related businesses, Ford’s equity ownership in Argo AI (a developer of autonomous driving systems), and other mobility businesses and investments.

Ford Credit Segment: this segment is comprised of the Ford Credit business on a consolidated basis, which is primarily vehicle-related financing and leasing activities.
