Honda, the Japanese vehicle manufacturer, sold a total of 21.1 million vehicles in the fiscal year 2022, an increase of 7% as compared to the total sales of 19.68 million vehicles in FY2021. Honda segregates its vehicle sales mainly into two categories namely automobiles and motorcycles.
Honda sold 17.03 million motorcycles across the world in the fiscal year 2022. Compared to the previous year 2021, motorcycle sales rose mainly due to increased sales in Brazil which resulted in a revenue of JPY2,185.2 billion, a 22.3% year-over-year growth in revenue.
Honda sold 4.08 million automobiles across the world, although automobile sales declined in North America, automobile sales revenue increased year over year principally as a result of a rise in sales in Asia which resulted in a revenue of JPY9,360.5 billion, a 6.6% year-over-year growth in the fiscal year 2022.
India is the largest market for Honda motorcycles, whereas Japan and other Asian countries are the largest markets for automobiles. Honda had a total of 12 manufacturing plants all over the world.
