Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla intends to double its vehicle sales in Germany in 2022. In 2021, Tesla sold 39,714 vehicles in Germany, where the carmaker built its first gigafactory in Europe in Gruenheide near Berlin. The company intends to increase its sales every year, which would likely result in 80,000 units in 2022.
In an effort to increase its market share and profitability, the automaker is concentrating on increasing production and sales. Tesla increased its production to more than 1,000 units per week since the beginning of operations at the Giga Berlin manufacturing plant. Currently, the company intends to increase the production to 5,000 units every week and even higher, gradually. Eventually, it wants to raise manufacturing even further in order to double its EV sales in Germany.
Tesla Giga Berlin manufactures the Model Y electric crossover. However, with the plan to double EV sales in Germany, the automaker focuses more on the German market than other countries in Europe.
The revenue of Tesla grew 42% YoY in Q2 2022 to $16,934 million. Revenue was affected by growth in vehicle deliveries, increased average selling price (ASP), and growth in other parts of the business. Tesla generates the majority of its revenue from its automotive business.
