The number of active job postings in the Business and Consumer Services sector of Australia decreased by 2.89% MoM, and decreased by 19.99% since October 2023, reaching 2,718 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 1,439 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing a decrease of 25.21% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 1,520 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 35.92% fewer jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 47.77% and the number of jobs closed decreased by 45.87%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 19.47%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 7.16% and the number of jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 18.5%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 2,100, number of jobs closed stood at 2,283 and number of active jobs stood at 3,040.
