In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $1,593.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $398.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of September 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 9 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $22.0 million during that month.
Of the 64 deals, the deal secured between China Aluminum New Materials Co Ltd and China Aluminum Zhongzhou Aluminum Co Ltd; Chinalco Shandong Co Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the China Chemicals sector, which was valued at $1,566.5 million and was completed on May 30, 2022. The second-largest deal was between CNSIG Inner Mongolia Chemical Industry Co Ltd and Qinghai Fatou Alkali Industry Co., Ltd., while the third-largest deal was between Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co Ltd and Inner Mongolia Yitai Chemical Co., Ltd. The CNSIG Inner Mongolia Chemical Industry Co Ltd-Qinghai Fatou Alkali Industry Co., Ltd. deal and the Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co Ltd-Inner Mongolia Yitai Chemical Co., Ltd deal were valued at $435.3 million and $323.1 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Potash International Investment (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd-Beijing Agricultural Potassium Resources Technology Co., Ltd valued at $272.8 million, whereas the deal between China International Capital Corp Ltd; GREAT RIVER SMARTER LOGISTICS (HONG KONG) LIMITED-Dragon Crown Group Holdings Ltd valued at $200.7 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $2,798.4 million and accounted for nearly 62.44% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
