The third largest number of patents were published by Hitachi Ltd with 983 related patents, of which 85.8% was contributed by its subsidiary Hitachi Construction Machinery Co Ltd. The fourth largest number of patents were published by Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings Co Ltd with 694 related patents, of which 70.7% was contributed by its subsidiary Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co Ltd. The fifth largest number of patents were published by Mitsubishi Electric Corp with 515 related patents.
The top five patent holders, i.e., LG Corp, Samsung Group, Hitachi Ltd, Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings Co Ltd, and Mitsubishi Electric Corp, together held 4,994 patents during the period.
