Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) is a producer, distributor, and marketer of beer, alcoholic beverages, and soft drinks. The company’s product portfolio consists of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages that including beer, rum, malt beverages, and soft drinks. AB InBev markets and sells these products under various international and local brands, including Budweiser, Aguila, Stella Artois, Beck’s, Leffe, Hoegaarden, Skol, Bud Light, Victoria, Harbin, Corona, Brahma, and Quilmes.

Total GHG emissions of Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2021 were 30.94 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents (MtCO2eq), an increase of 9.1% from 2020. The company has set a goal to reduce its carbon emissions by 25% across its value chain and to have 100% of its purchased electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

GHG emissions are generally classified into Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Scope 1 includes direct GHG emissions from energy generated from fossil fuels used in the manufacturing process and in cogeneration plants that generate on-site electricity. Scope 2 encompasses indirect GHG emissions from the purchase of electricity. Scope 3 involves indirect GHG emissions in Nestle’s value chain, upstream and downstream distribution, product cooling (including on and off premise but excluding at-home cooling), and end of product life.

Scope 3 emissions form the major portion of Anheuser-Busch InBev’s total GHG emissions, accounting for around 85.7% (26.53 MtCO2eq) of total GHG emissions in 2021. Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Scope 1 (2.99 MtCO2eq) and Scope 2 (1.42 MtCO2eq) emissions have decreased by about 6.4%.
