A total of 151 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Consumer of the Europe region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $47,528.9 million. In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $22,481.2 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,873.4 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 17 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $613.5 million during that month.
Of the 151 deals, the deal secured between Philip Morris International Inc and Swedish Match AB, was the largest M&A deal in the Europe Consumer sector, which was valued at $17,326.9 million and was completed on May 11, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Central Group Co Ltd; SIGNA Holding GmbH and Selfridges & Co, while the third-largest deal was between Crocs Inc and Fratelli Diversi S.r.l. The Central Group Co Ltd; SIGNA Holding GmbH-Selfridges & Co deal and the Crocs Inc-Fratelli Diversi S.r.l deal were valued at $5,322.0 million and $2,500.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Hornbach Holding AG & Co KGaA-Hornbach Baumarkt AG (Germany) valued at $1,984.1 million, whereas the deal between SalMar ASA-Norway Royal Salmon ASA valued at $1,320.8 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $28,453.8 million and accounted for nearly 59.87% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 34.82% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 2.84% of the total deal size on a global scale.
