It also sells over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, adult nutrition, infant and child nutrition, minerals, vitamins and supplements, pain relief products, hair removal, and pest control products.
GHG emissions are generally classified into Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Scope 1 includes direct GHG emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the company such as emissions associated with fuel combustion in boilers and furnaces. Scope 2 encompasses indirect GHG emissions associated with purchased electricity, heat, and steam. Scope 3 involves indirect GHG emissions in the company’s upstream and downstream activities such as purchased goods and services, use of sold products, business travel, and employee commute.
In 2021, Reckitt Benckiser’s absolute GHG emissions (Scope 1 ad 2) were 133,636 tonnes of CO2 equivalents, a decrease of 46% on an annual basis. In 2021, Scope 3 emissions of Reckitt Benckiser’s were 13,182,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalents (MtCO2eq).
Reckitt Benckiser aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 65% and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2015 base year. The company also has a goal to use 100% renewable electricity by 2030.
