Of the 143 deals, the deal secured between Cargill Inc; Continental Grain Co and Sanderson Farms Inc, was the largest M&A deal in the United States Consumer sector, which was valued at $4,530.0 million and was completed on August 9, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Pershing Square Tontine Holdings Ltd and Universal Music Group Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Mondelez International Inc and Clif Bar & Company. The Pershing Square Tontine Holdings Ltd-Universal Music Group Inc deal and the Mondelez International Inc-Clif Bar & Company deal were valued at $4,000.0 million and $2,900.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Pershing Square Holdings Ltd; Pershing Square International Ltd.; Pershing Square, L.P.-Universal Music Group Inc valued at $2,800.0 million, whereas the deal between Authentic Brands Group LLC-Reebok International Ltd valued at $2,500.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $16,730.0 million and accounted for nearly 32.41% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
